Weapons are an essential part of the Army of Two series, but making weapons effective for different play-styles or situations are equally important. Each of the three Army of Two games has a different system for weapon customization.

Army of Two[]

Most (but not all) of the weapons in the game have up to 3 upgradeable parts, and up to 3 locations for attachments, with up to three tiers of upgrade or attachment for each part.

In addition to this, the aesthetic appearance of all weapons can be altered.

The upgradeable parts are:

  • Barrel upgrades increase damage and Aggro generation
  • Stock upgrades decrease spread
  • Cartridge upgrades increase the ammo capacity

The attachments are:

  • Front mounts
    • Grips decrease spread, and increase Aggro generation
    • Shotguns and grenade launchers increase Aggro generation and adds another weapon
  • Suppressors deccrease Aggro generation and damage
  • Shields increases Aggro generation and spread and reduces damage taken

The aesthetic change is:

  • Appearance increases Aggro generation

Army of Two: The 40th Day[]

In Army of Two: The 40th Day, weapon customization allows parts from other weapons to be used, making swapping out current parts less linear, and allows the player to customize weapon to be effective in very specific situations, should they choose to do so.

Changes in weapon statistics are also less specific, and different parts can have very different effects.

  • Barrels can be swapped between weapons of the same (or similar) class; additional barrels are also available.
  • Stocks can be swapped between weapons of the same (or similar) class; additional stocks are also available.
  • Cartridges can be swapped between weapons of the same class; extended, box and drum magazines are also available.
  • Front Mounts
  • Suppressors and muzzle attachments
    • Swapping muzzles between weapons
    • Muzzle reducers
    • Muzzle enhancers
    • Bayonets
    • Supressors
  • Scopes can be added to most weapons, and swapped between sniper rifles
  • Style changes can be applied, either reducing or increasing Aggro generation

Notes[]

  • Suppressors can be removed on-the-fly, in-game. This means that even if a weapon that is customized for silent combat and low Aggro generation combat, it still has the ability to be useful for generating Aggro.
  • Scopes can also be removed on-the-fly, in-game. This means that even if a weapon that is customized for long range combat, it still has the ability to be useful in closer combat.

Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel[]

In The Devil's Cartel, weapon customization has a more realistic approach than it did in The 40th Day. Parts are no longer interchangeable between weapons, but upgrades are more realistic, such as extened or shortened barrels. All weapon take their upgrades from the following list, but no weapon has access to every option listed, and the exact stat alterations can vary slightly from weapon to weapon.
